I am a freelance book editor and writer with 19 years expertise acquiring and editing cookbooks and other illustrated non-fiction titles. I love working on titles related to anything food and drink, crafting, quilting, and parenthood.

After nearly two decades with Chronicle books, I decided to branch out and help aspiring authors with their projects, from structural edits to the finer details of grammar and spelling. Chronicle Books

Jul, 1999 — Jun, 2017 (almost 18 years)

In my 18 years at Chronicle Books, I edited hundreds of food and lifestyle titles and led the team in identifying trends and suggesting topics to publish. I have created and maintained strong relationships with agents and authors. When I left Chronicle Books to pursue a freelance career I was acquiring and editing approximately 15 titles a year. I negotiated book deals with authors and agents. As an ambassador for the company I attended trade shows and have been a speaker at the IACP Conference.

Author
Whoopie Pies, Chronicle Books, 2010. Co-written with Sarah Billingsley. I developed 20 of the 40 recipes in the book and wrote the frontmatter and basics text for the book. The book went on to sell 140,000 copies.

We Love Madeleines, Chronicle Books, 2012. Recipes celebrating the wonderful madeleine. Half of the recipes in the book were developed by me, the others were crowd funded through a Facebook page. The book was “authored” by Miss Madeleine, a fictional character, and all her recipes and text by her was written by me.

The Red Book of Luck, Chronicle Books, 2018 (not yet published). This is a collection of traditions about luck from around the world, covering anything about luck, both good and bad, superstitions, rituals, and the charms and talismans people make and keep to ensure a happy, healthy, and wealthy life.
