Overview
If you are an author looking for specialist support on fiction as well as academic writing or other non-fiction work, please get in touch. I would love to hear about your project and work with you to achieve your goals.
For academic authors, I can help with structure, language consistency, and honing your arguments to make your writing more effective and more likely to get published. I also work with companies on their statements, websites, and re-branding to improve their impact in English-speaking markets.
My academic background is in Anthropology, International Relations, Creative Writing and Gender Studies. Many of my clients are from the fields of political science, immigration and migration studies, anthropology and culture, and development. I have wide experience editing works of fiction and non-fiction on topics as varied as politics, travel, culture, religion, language, health and art.
I have a specialty of working with authors from around the world, particularly where English is a second language. I can offer developmental edits, copy editing, proofreading, or other things such as a series of exercises and fun approaches to help you find your authentic voice.
I am a writer, creative writing facilitator and editor. My experience working in Africa, Asia and the Balkans with humanitarian organisations helped me create my own freelance business in 2015. Since then I have had extensive copy editing experience of fiction, non-fiction and academic writing, with many repeat bookings from satisfied clients.
I love working with authors and editors, and each project gets a personally tailored approach. I am flexible and happy to work on full-length manuscripts, articles, company websites, proposals or query letters. In addition, I am a trained facilitator and run creative writing workshops, based on a methodology I created called Writing the 7 Senses.
I am a prolific writer of fiction and have an MA in Creative Writing from London City University. My debut novel, Into the Mouth of the Lion, was published in May 2021. My second book, Ahead of the Shadows, was published in September 2022 and my latest book, The Cafe on Manor Lane, was published by HarperCollins in August 2024. I have published short stories, articles and book reviews, as well as photography books. I’m part of writers’ groups and have years of experience giving constructive feedback to authors. I teach creative writing as well.
