Overview

About me:
I have published five books in wellbeing and parenting with major publishers and my work has been translated into 17 languages. I have titles published by Penguin Random House (2015), Watkins Publishing (2015, 2016, & 2017) and Little, Brown (2017). Alongside my own writing and raising my children, I have worked as a freelance editor and manuscript assessor (fiction and non-fiction) for ten years including for Watkins Publishing. I have an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University (distinction). I have taught writing skills at Oxford University and Creative Writing for Wellbeing for mental health charity Mind.

How I work:
It's my passion to help you communicate as strongly as you can. I can help you recognise the strengths and weaknesses in your work and guide you to fix problems. Whether you are self-publishing or going down the traditional publishing route, I can help you shape up your manuscript so that you tell your story with authenticity and power.

I offer manuscript assessments, development editing and copyediting. I also enjoy working with authors over a longer time frame and can offer a mentoring package. I am also available as a ghostwriter.

My fees are fair and affordable, and I can offer a fast turnaround if time is short.

Fiction - I have a particular interest in children's and literary.

Non-fiction - I specialise in wellbeing and memoir.

“Amber doesn’t pull any punches and lets you know what is working and what is not. If you want somebody who will tell you your work is ‘nice’, Amber is not for you. On the other hand, if you want someone who will make your work publishable, Amber will help you get there. She’s brilliant and knows what works.” (This author went on to strike a four-book deal with Bloomsbury.)
