Overview
I have spent my career in university press publishing—first as marketing coordinator and then as production manager. I have worn many hats in the publishing process, including editorial, production, design, and marketing! I'm proud of my contribution to publishing the history and literature of Texas and the American West—a mission that has included the publication of biographies and memoirs, scholarly monographs, literary novels, and even children's books. I have also spent years freelancing as a writer, designer, and editor for companies as diverse as travel agencies, whiskey distilleries, and dance companies.
I relish having the opportunity to work with writers to express their stories and ideas in as clear and effective a manner as possible. I'm thorough and detail-oriented in my editing, but I also firmly believe it's important for a writer's voice to shine through their work. I like to explain my thought process in my editorial comments, but any suggestions are always left to the discretion of the writer.
When not editing and producing books, I'm usually reading them! I am endlessly fascinated by reading history, sociology, and memoirs, but I also love diving into a good fantasy or romance novel. When not buried in a good book, I'm usually trying to find some way to explore the outdoors.
