Overview
I'm a commercial fiction reader at heart, with a particular affinity for romantic comedy, romance, and contemporary women’s fiction. In my time at numerous "big five" publishing houses and literary agencies, I was fortunate to work with hungry, exciting debut authors and seasoned, NYT-bestselling brand authors alike. It's a joy to witness authors' nurtured, beloved ideas begin to unfurl and take life on the page, from an email conversation, to first draft, to finished book.
In my time at Penguin Random House I evaluated hundreds of manuscripts and proposals on submission. I know that landing an agent and getting published can be both invigorating and frustrating; I've also witnessed the benefits of self-publishing. Working with writers in these early stages to identify what is (and isn’t) working on the page, smoothing out characterizations and relationships, making an atmosphere sing, and tweaking a plot’s pacing to make a novel unputdownable are where I excel.
That said, I’d love to help you shape and elevate your manuscript! At the moment I’m able to provide an initial editorial assessment, accompanied by a comprehensive editorial memo. Let's discuss your goals - why seek out a freelance editor, and how can I best help you? Feel free to get in touch if you’ve hit a wall in your writing, want some fresh perspective on a potential new direction, or are just plain sick of staring at your laptop and don't know where to turn. I’m excited to dig in and help in any way I can.
