Adam Walker

Adam Walker – Editor

Editor and proofreader of award-winning academic and non-specialist monographs, edited volumes, handbooks, translations and articles.

Overview

For more than a decade, I have worked as a professional proofreader, editor and publisher. I specialise in education and academic texts aimed at all target audiences, from primary school children to seasoned professors. My experience includes school text books, undergraduate handbooks, postgraduate dissertations and specialist academic research (e.g. monographs, edited volumes, translations, etc.) . I have edited books on a diverse subject range, but specialise in the humanities (history, theology, law, philosophy, economics, etc.) and social sciences. In addition to English, I offer an advanced understanding of several foreign languages (e.g. Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Urdu) and the various systems of transliteration associated with them.

In addition to editing texts, I specialise in book project consultancy—from 'pitch to print.' Working as a consultant, I have brought more than fifty books to print, working with authors at each step of their journey. This includes:

- Assistance with initial conceptual building
- Drafting successful submission proposals for publishing houses
- Preparing a manuscript for review
- Final production
- Covers, front matter and illustrations
- Effective book promotion and marketing (including SEO, social media engagement and public relations)

In addition to academic texts, I have experience of non-fiction works, especially non-fiction history.

I was very happy with everything Adam did up till he disappeared and I was unable to contact him again. I never was able to see the work he did on my manuscript. Reedsy is working at refunding my money and I am hiring a different editor.
