Ada Brzozowska

Ada Brzozowska – Designer

I'm Ada, an illustrator and designer from Poland, avid observer and storyteller fond of illustrating stories, people and the quirks of life.

Overview

I specialize in creating bold, colorful illustrations bursting with characters, emotions, and atmosphere. With a BA in graphic design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and an MA in illustration from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, I enjoy working on complex design projects where illustration takes center stage.

My journey took me from working full-time roles in branding and animation companies, where I developed visual identities, designed brand illustrations, and created unique illustrations for animations. For over seven years, I’ve been freelancing, bringing my passion for visual storytelling to books, editorials, and animations.

With my background as both an illustrator and graphic designer, I handle the entire process—from initial sketches to final delivery—making sure the design of your book looks stunning and the illustrations shed new light on the story.

I love creating works that bring warmth to the heart and a smile to the face, sparking the imagination of both kids and adults. I’m not afraid to tackle challenging themes, using my illustrations to educate and inspire.

When we work together, you’ll find I’m all about collaboration and creativity. I’m passionate about narratives — a love that started with childhood books and continues today. My goal is not only to complement but to elevate the story, adding a new layer to the narrative with the illustrations I create. I’m flexible with various techniques—whether it’s collage, hand-drawing, painting, or digital illustration, I like to choose the tools that best suit the theme, vibe, and budget of the project, ensuring to always create something special that meets the project’s needs.

Years of experience have helped me develop a well-structured creative process. When you work with me, you can expect an organized and open approach. I’m very clear in my communication and break the process into stages that allow for input along the way. I value feedback and see each project as a collaboration, where we share ideas and thoughts.

Got questions, ideas, or just want to have a conversation? Don’t hesitate to get in touch! I can’t wait to talk about your story and explore how we can make it come to life.

Work experience

AVIA Produksjon

Nov, 2021 — Jan, 2024 (about 2 years)

At AVIA Produksjon, I had the pleasure of working as an illustrator for all our animation projects. My responsibilities included creating mood boards, storyboards, style frames, and distinctive designs for our animation films, and animating some of my designs from time to time. During my stay at AVIA, I had the pleasure of collaborating with many fantastic clients from both the public and private sectors, such as Stortinget, Right to Play Canada, Norwegian Red Cross, WHO, Universitetet i Sørøst- Norge or Ung i Trafikken, to name a few.

In addition to my role as an illustrator, I also worked as our in-house designer, where I developed our website design and broad selection of branding materials. And last, but not least I had the great joy of painting two murals in our office studio (one over 21 m2 – probably my physically largest project so far!)

Makers Hub

May, 2021 — Oct, 2021 (6 months)

Within my time at Makers Hub, I have worked on a project called "Torshovdalen for Alle" — a research project investigating universal accessibility in Torshovdalen Park in Oslo.

I have been responsible for creating the project's visual identity, an set of brand illustration, content for social media, a map, and all the printed materials, including flyers, posters, and two informative signs that were placed in the park during the summer of 2021.

Self-employed

May, 2017 — Present

I create bold and colorful illustrations and book designs for publishers and authors, with a special love for projects that tackle big topics in a way that’s fun and accessible for kids. My work is all about creating visuals that tell a story—whether it’s a bold brand illustration, a detailed editorial piece, or a playful character that sparks joy. I design books, editorials, create covers and illustrations that resonate with the heart of the story. With illustrated titles, I manage the entire journey, guiding your project from the first spark of an idea all the way through to polished, print-ready files.

BNA Brand New Attitude

Jan, 2017 — Jul, 2018 (over 1 year)

During my time at BNA, I was involved in designing corporate identities for a wide range of clients. These included creating a visual identity for a furniture manufacturer, working on several conceptual designs for clients in the retail, cosmetics and cultural industries, and creating a signage system for the Polish market for one of the French hypermarket chains in the construction industry.
