Overview

I provide an expert eye in copyediting, thoughtful developmental commentary, consistent style and source checking, and manuscript formatting and preparation for layout. Whether your project needs an outside perspective for clarity, some smoothing of rough patches, or that final polish to make it sing, I can help you say what you need to say and say it best.

I have 10+ years of experience working in nonprofit and small press publishing, and I've contributed to more than 50 book projects and have been the managing editor for two peer-reviewed journals. I’ve copyedited scholarly and creative books on the topics of

-library/archives science,

-history,

-education,

-professional development,

-memoirs,

-poetry, and

-essay collections.

I'm familiar with Chicago Manual of Style and APA 7th edition.

I'm also a writer myself and an avid reader. I hold an MFA in poetry, and I've published a poetry collection and essays. I'm drawn to work that plays with form and blurs genres.

I'm also a fan of swoon-worthy contemporary and historical romances and cozy, small-town mystery novels. If you have such a project, let's talk!

“I appreciate your edits and comments. Your expertise and insight make *me* look so much better.” —JULIE THOMAS, author of Teaching Primary Source Research Skills
