*Hi! I'm Carolina, a cover designer, illustrator and animator with more than ten years of graphic design experience working for and alongside bestselling authors, renowned publishers and indie writers.I specialise in creating bold, bright, colourful images that both kids and adults will love. For kids' books, that might mean cute, funny, playful, silly, joyous, and inclusive to all. For adults, that might mean bold, bright, attention-grabbing graphics for the cover of a novel, charm-filled illustrations for a cookbook, or a sleek, "flat," modern style, perfect to liven up the pages of non-fiction.I can work in a variety of styles (see below) but I try to make everything I do "pop"- whether that's with colour, motion, life, fun. Most of all, I think about the reader, the target audience and the appropriate genre cues to reach them; to always make sure that authors and publishers are sending the right message with the right style to the right people.What you can expect when working with me: Fully illustrated picture books: a close partnership/collaboration; proposals for characters, styles and colours; separation of the manuscript text into "spreads" for us to figure out together the timing or pacing of a visual story; finally, execution of all the spreads only once we have agreed on a style.Please note: sometimes self-publishing authors reach out without first researching what a professional-level, full-colour children’s book would cost. It usually takes c. 2-3 months to complete a 32 page book, and the budget estimate will reflect that.
