I am a New York-based publicist specializing in the online promotion of books and plays. I work mainly in commercial/genre fiction.
I create and execute publicity campaigns for writers, publishers, agents, and publicists. I work to build awareness of my clients' books/projects by securing coverage in publications and on blogs, websites, podcasts, social media channels, and other outlets, and by exploring partnerships. The portfolio listed in my profile is comprised of select projects in a range of genres.
*Marketing/Publicity Director, AuthorsOnTheWeb division (May 2008 - August 2013)
*Promotion/Marketing Manager (February 2002 - May 2008)
*Editorial Coordinator (February 2002 - May 2004)
*Volunteer Chat Host/Message Board Monitor, TBRN's America Online channel (July 1998 - August 2002)
I began experimenting with online publicity in 1996 while I was still a student. After seeing how I could use the Internet to connect readers and writers, my career goals shifted from journalism to the book industry. Novelist Chelsea Quinn Yarbro was my first client; I still work with her. I continued taking on select freelance projects after joining The Book Report Network (1998-2002 volunteer; 2002-2013 freelancer-turned-staffer) and interning at Tor/Forge Books (June 2000). In August 2013 I left my staff position at TBRN to freelance full-time.
