Wiley Saichek - Publicist

New York, NY

I am a New York-based publicist/marketer specializing in the online promotion of books and plays. I work mainly in commercial/genre fiction.

Overview

I am a New York-based publicist/marketer specializing in the digital promotion of books and plays. Since 1996 I have been helping writers, publishers, agents and publicists spread the word about their books and projects.

Throughout my tenure spearheading digital marketing and publicity campaigns for AuthorsOnTheWeb/The Book Report Network (2002-2013), and as an independent publicist (1996-present), I have had the opportunity to promote books by a variety of wonderful writers.

I also have experience as a bookseller.

In the theater world I have consulted on social media marketing strategy for a theatrical foundation, and I have promoted four plays by Laura Pedersen, all staged in New York: A Dozen Perfect Moments, The Brightness of Heaven (2012 festival; 2014 Off-Broadway; re-launched as For Heaven's Sake! in Buffalo, NY, 2015), Living Arrangements and This Will All Be Yours.

Saichek Publicity

August, 2013 – Present (over 3 years)

I create and execute marketing and publicity campaigns for writers, publishers, agents and publicists. I work to build awareness of my clients' books/projects by securing coverage in publications and on blogs and websites and by exploring "offline" partnerships. The portfolio listed in my profile is comprised of select projects in a range of genres.

At this time I am taking on a limited number of self-published projects in regards to publicity outreach/execution.

N/A

August, 1996 – August, 2013 (about 17 years)

I began experimenting with online publicity in 1996 while I was still a student. After seeing how I could use the Internet to connect readers and writers, my career goals shifted from journalism to the book industry. Novelist Chelsea Quinn Yarbro was my first client; I still work with her. I continued taking on select freelance projects after joining The Book Report Network (1998-2002 volunteer; 2002-2013 staffer) and interning at Tor/Forge Books (June 2000). In August 2013 I left my staff position at TBRN to establish Saichek Publicity.
