Trevor Anderson

Trevor Anderson – Editor

Cantankerous, grumpy, a bit long in the tooth, but a bl**dy good editor. Non-fiction, academic papers, health, international development

Overview

Subjects I have a particular interest and expertise in include health, international development, conflict resolution, politics, sociology/social anthropology. I have a Master's degree majoring in religion, so devotional, theological and religious publications are also of interest to me.

I've got lots of experience helping first-time authors, and authors for whom English is their second language. So if you fit into either of these categories, I can help you out.

With 25 years' experience of copy-editing and publication project management, I'm a safe pair of hands.

I've worked in permanent roles in the UK for a broad range of organisations – a reference book publisher, a UK government agency, an international professional membership body, and a health charity.

In the past three years, I've worked in a freelance/consultancy basis in Ethiopia, for a UN agency, two ministries of the Ethiopian government (agriculture and health), an Ethiopian professional membership body for public health practitioners, and various international NGOs.

Almost all of my editing experience has been of non-fiction publications, spanning large reference works, technical books and reports, academic journal papers, and educational materials. I've also edited campaign and conference materials, training courses, video transcripts, newsletters, and web copy.

I have a particular aptitude for transforming highly technical language into plain English, and I can edit using both British English and US English principles.

Trevor's editorial review and feedback section were thorough and professional in every respect. I appreciated that he, by instinct or practice, started the review with three or four specific things he liked about the work. Then, he continued with cogent suggestions, perceptive observations, and the invaluable corrections on typos etc. that an author can no longer see. As his feedback refere...
