Toby M

Toby M – Editor

Editor for five years at Dorling Kindersley, I have experience in illustrated publishing, particularly on gardening, and food and drink.

Overview

I have copyediting, copywriting, and proofreading skills from my time at Dorling Kindersley. Particular interest and experience in visual publishing on the theme of gardening and sustainability, food and drink, crafts, and health and wellbeing. I also spent a bit of time working on branded books, (eg. LEGO and Star Wars).

I was involved in book creation from concept to print, producing marketing material in the concept stage, researching and hiring authors, editors, and proofreaders, and then managing the project of the book through the production stage.

I have a good knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs/Sheets.

After five years at DK I decided to go on an adventure and moved to New Zealand (exploring a large chunk of South America en route). Although I now have a full-time job in software development, I'm able to take up small proofreading jobs in my spare time.

Tobys suggestion to meet over Skype to discuss the project was a great idea, creating a good working relationship from the onset. Toby's gardening background contributed to his editing skills when working on my book. I have already asked him to edit my second gardening book.
