Theresa Noll – Editor

I specialize in editing memoirs. Let's get your story ready for the world to read.

Overview

I'm a developmental book editor with 14 years of experience in the field. The right editor for your memoir should be a person you trust with your deepest memories, dreams, passions and insecurities. I am honored when someone chooses me to play this role, and I treat every collaboration with the care and sensitivity it deserves. I have worked with philosophers, artists, activists, scholars and many others to bring their personal stories to life.

Work experience

Self-employed

Dec, 2008 — Present

I work with publishers and independent authors to edit works of nonfiction. I provide support at every stage of the process, from idea creation to developmental editing to copyediting. My clients have included Seven Stories Press, Feminist Press, Seal Press, Flashpoint Press and PM Press.

Seven Stories Press

Jun, 2005 — Nov, 2008 (over 3 years)

I worked closely with authors to develop their ideas and hone their manuscripts in preparation for publication. As managing editor, I coordinated the editors, freelancers, and interns who contributed to the execution of the dozens of books published during my tenure. I also wrote cover copy, catalog copy, and publicity materials.

This was my first experience with Reedsy.com and it could not have been better. Theresa Knoll provided an exceptional editorial review for a 275 page manuscript and a query letter with the perfect hook. She even completed the assignment a couple days early. Theresa knew exactly how to take my book to the next level by providing questions that made me dig deeper into the characters or stories. S...

Theresa's sharp and incisive mind was absolutely necessary in getting my 220,000-plus-word manuscript whittled down to a manageable size. I could not have trusted this seven-year labor of love to just any editor. Theresa understood my message and mission intuitively as well as intellectually and went to work to bring out the best parts and really make them shine. Her edits were right on point a...
