Shannon Pallatta

Shannon Pallatta – Designer

Thoughtful designer with 5 years experience in kids' nonfiction at National Geographic, with cover + interior work in art, poetry, and more.

Overview

Hi! My name is Shannon, and I'm a freelance designer with over five years of experience working in the publishing industry. I specialize in designing children's books and magazines for National Geographic as well as poetry and art books for Day Eight publishing and other authors and artists.

I'm passionate about books and driven by curiosity—I believe that fully understanding the book's content is necessary for good design, and love working closely with the authors to best represent their work visually. I value feedback and collaboration on style guides early on to ensure a smooth design process throughout. I love experimenting with concepts and image-making for imaginative covers (my fine arts background allows me to remain open to using many different styles of both digital and analog cover art!), and I am meticulous with typography for interiors. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions—I'm looking forward to reading your work!
