Sasha Prood – Designer

I specialize in hand-drawn and hand-painted projects, and enjoy working on everything from novels, to children’s books, to cookbooks!

Overview

I'm an illustrator, handletterer, and graphic designer based out of Brooklyn, New York. I run a studio that specializes in hand-drawn and hand-painted projects. I'm the author of a series of medium focused workshop books, produced with Abrams. My first book, Watercolor Workshop: Learn to Paint in 100 Experiments and its corresponding products, a journal, notebook, and notecards came out early 2018. My second, Marker Workshop: Learn to Ink in 50 Experiments, is available for preorder and will launch early 2019. I have received various awards, including being named a Print Magazine 20 under 30: New Visual Artist, along with HOW, Graphis, and Typism honors. My client work has been produced in collaboration with Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins Publishers, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Penguin Random House, and Sterling Publishing. My designs have also been featured in various publications including Gestalten's "Los Logos 7," Chronicle Book's “The Little Book of Lettering,” Real Simple Magazine, Computer Arts Magazine, Design*Sponge, and Oh Joy!.

As a fellow author, who has designed, illustrated, and written my own books, I understand all sides of the publishing process. I would be thrilled to bring this knowledge to Reedsy authors. When collaborating with a client on their book, we will start by discussing the details of the project. Once I fully understand each of the elements that I’m developing, I will create a series of sketches to visually present my ideas. We will go through the processes of reviewing and revising those sketches until the design is approved. This is the time to ask as many question as you want and obsess over every detail of the art, as making changes at this stage is quite easy. When the design has been approved I will move on to developing final art. Once final art is complete, any minor adjustments can be made. Please get in touch if you think we might be a good fit. I look forward to hear from you!
