When I was a kid I used to correct people's grammar. I'm sure that was annoying, but now I do it professionally, so it worked out pretty well.
I have worked as a professional editor for a university press and as a freelancer, as well as writing my own books in the crafts space. I like to say that I know the industry from both sides, having written books and edited books (as well as overseeing production of books).
My background is in journalism so I know AP style as well as Chicago. I have an interest in history, biography, crafts, health and any topic where the author's passion and knowledge comes through.
I'm interested in making the books I work on as clear and correct as they can be without squashing the author's style.
I love to read, knit, sew, bake and watch my teenaged daughter play video games.
