Sahara Clement – Editor

Experienced book editor specializing in non-fiction projects in the culture, lifestyle, and self-help space.

Overview

In my six years as a book editor, I have gained valuable experience curating, shaping, and developing written and visual content in the culture and lifestyle space. I thrive in creative and collaborative environments and I love taking part in projects that reflect our diverse, ever-changing culture. My primary goal as an editor is to help you shape and execute your project's vision. I love working closely with authors to develop their projects from loose concepts to concrete ideas, editing content to fit the project's vision, and offering encouraging, constructive feedback whenever necessary.Although I primarily specialize in pop culture books, I've also worked on a variety of other genres including LGBTQ+, cookbooks, humor, comics, self-help, and many more. My diverse and multifaceted experience has allowed me to approach many subjects with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Johns Hopkins University Press

Sep, 2016 — Sep, 2017 (about 1 year)
I supported the health and wellness and public health acquisition editors with many aspects of the book acquisitions process. This included drafting and processing contracts, facilitating peer review, ensuring effective communication with authors and editors, soliciting book endorsements from prominent members in the public health and consumer health fields, and preparing and organizing book prospectuses for presentation to our editorial review board and faculty editorial board.

Bryn Mawr College

Sep, 2015 — May, 2016 (8 months)
I held one-on-one hourly sessions to assist students with formulating thesis statements, organizing ideas, and editing papers, all with the goal of helping them to become better writers. I served as a writing partner to three first-year students; I met with them on a weekly basis to collaborate on the writing process and help them develop their skills. I was also a thesis writing partner; I met with one senior student weekly to serve as a sounding board for their ideas, help them to set strict deadlines, advise them on organization and style, and ultimately, make the process of writing a thesis more productive.
