Overview
"S.C. Kaplan has a laser-like eye for detail and a consummate thoroughness that demonstrated to me her indefatigable commitment to clear, incisive prose and an aesthetically pleasing layout. Not your typical copyeditor by any means: Kappie attends to every single detail — even ones I had no idea needed attending to! — ; and she even pointed me to some gaps in my own knowledge which I have gratefully taken on board. I really cannot recommend Kappie highly enough! " - Peter Barrios-Lech, Assoc. Prof. of Classics, UMass Boston
I began editing in 2010 during graduate school, when a fellow doctoral student needed another set of eyes on his dissertation on eighteenth-century French philosophers. Since then, I've mostly stayed away from philosophy, but I continue to appreciate the wide variety of subjects that my clients have given me the opportunity to learn about while working with them!
I provide copy editing and proofreading services primarily to authors working on Francophone and English literature, culture, and history; art history; and gender studies. My experience as a fluent non-native speaker of French has been particularly helpful in my work with non-native English speakers. I'm exceptionally adept at cutting the fluff and leaving authors with clear, concise prose appropriate to their target audience.
