RuthAnne Snow – Editor

Editor specializing in romance and YA, with additional copyediting and proofreading experience. Published author with Sky Pony Press.

Overview

Hi there! I like to make sure I have a good idea of what an editing client is looking for before I begin my work. Once I'm sure we are on the same page, I am a quick reader and always meet deadlines, or communicate in advance if something unexpected comes up.

I have a keen eye for copy editing and proofreading issues, having worked at two newspapers, an academic journal, and on a number of nonfiction books. As a former Pitch Wars mentor, I love helping a writer get to the core of the story that they want to tell--identifying what is working well and what needs to be improved in terms of plot, stakes, and characterization.

I've had a wide range of professional experiences that give me a unique perspective when editing. As an attorney, I can help you identify and address legal realism issues in your fiction, whether it's a domestic drama about divorce or a legal thriller that needs fine-tuning regarding the rules of evidence. **NOTE: I do not dispense legal advice to editing clients.**

I also love working on query letters and have helped a number of peers secure an agent over the years.

I published my debut young adult novel, WHEN THE TRUTH UNRAVELS in 2019 from Sky Pony Press.

I appreciate you considering me for your work!

TESTIMONIALS:

"RuthAnne has such a sharp eye, and is brilliant at pinpointing exactly where a story needs improvement. She is also incredibly insightful, and asks the right questions to help you bring your book--and your craft--to the next level. She has become my go-to editor, and I can't recommend working with RuthAnne strongly enough!"

- Emily Martin, author of young adult novel FIVE WAYS TO FALL OUT OF LOVE, (Inkyard/HarperCollins 2021) and the forthcoming adult romantic comedy WINNER TAKES ALL (Emily Bestler Books, 2026)
