Overview
Over the last twenty years, I have completed a variety of printed books.
While at Vertebrate Publishing, I laid out a wealth of guidebooks, biographies, narratives and travel guides. This included cover design, series branding, internal page design and layout that was sympathetic to the existing cover, plus artworking full-colour photographic guidebooks using templates to include information such as elevation and route profiles and mapping. I have also extensive experience typesetting complex narratives featuring footnotes, endnotes, indexes and boxed-out sections.
During my time at the fiction imprint of Games Workshop, I designed covers, series branding, special edition art books and typeset internal pages for their science fiction and fantasy ranges.
I am an approachable person with a positive, flexible attitude and am extremely organised. Vertebrate Publishing
Vertebrate Publishing is an award-winning independent publisher of outdoor adventure
books and guides. Working within a small team, I was responsible for the design and layout of a wide
range of books from narratives to photographic guidebooks and coffee table books, along
with creating marketing support through print and digital channels. I worked collaboratively
with managers, editors, sales support and printers to deliver multiple projects within often
short deadlines.
Games Workshop
I was responsible for concept, development and delivery of premium, special edition
books and series branding to product ranges, including CD packaging, special treatments,
slipcases and dust jackets.
Games Workshop
Black Library is the fiction imprint of Games Workshop producing novels and audiobooks. Working in a small team that produced over 150 books, graphic novels and artbooks a year, I was responsible for typesetting these books and ensuring that these were designed and printed to the highest quality. I also commissioned external artists for cover briefs, which I then managed through the process to ensure they met exacting standards within
tight timescales.
