Richard Carlin

Richard Carlin – Editor

I'm a Grammy-winning author with over 30 years experience editing books in the humanities.

Overview

I have over 30 years experience working with authors from proposal to finished manuscript, helping them create the best possible books. My strengths are in evaluating proposals; suggesting wording and approach that will give a proposal the widest appeal; working to tighten up and hone a manuscript to make it commercially attractive; suggesting changes that help authors sharpen their message.
My experience includes working at Oxford U Press, Pearson, Routledge/Taylor and Francis, Macmillan, Chicago Review Press, and Princeton Book Company, Publishers. Books that I have edited include major trade biographies and histories; textbooks; reference works; and scholarly monographs. My authors have written for major publications like Rolling Stone, Art News, and Mojo; academic journals; and teach at leading universities.
