Overview
I am an enthusiastic, experienced editor, writer, and project manager with over a decade of experience in trade book publishing. My specialty is children's and instructional books, but enjoy many forms of the written word. I even have experience in Americanization of English translations or UK-original text.In college, I worked at a local newspaper and went on to intern at a non-profit book publisher. From there, I moved on to a local magazine, but then I spent the formative years of my career honing my instructional writing and editing skills at Klutz. I then moved on to develop and launch the IncrediBuilds imprint at Insight Editions. All the while, I freelanced as a proofreader, project manager, and development editor at a wide range of top companies, including Weldon Owen Kids and Scholastic. I like to stay busy. I am also an avid crafter, which has helped me in my instructional writing. I enjoy creating things that utilize the best editorial and visual components to get readers excited--no matter what the genre. I look forward to helping you execute your vision and work together to make it stand out from the crowd. A few testimonials of my work: "Rebekah is a highly creative person with an impressively organized mind. Her skills in product development allow her to visualize an idea, communicate that vision, and bring it into reality. She approaches her editorial work with a singular focus and always gives one hundred percent to any task she is assigned."--Paul Ruditis, Senior Editor, Insight Kids"In the 5 years that I've worked with Rebekah, I have always found her to be 100% organized and 100% upbeat and positive, not easy during extensive photo shoots."--Rory Earnshaw, photographer"While we worked together at Klutz, I saw Rebekah take on a large range of tasks, from the boring to the entertaining, and she was always up for anything you could throw at her. Even when overloaded, she could take on yet one more thing and fit it into her day somehow. In addition to her tried and true organizational skills, Rebekah has a good eye for detail and is an enthusiastic team player."--Jen Mills, Production Manager, Stanford University"Rebekah was instrumental in the development of each and every product that Klutz produced. Rebekah has a strong understanding of all aspects of product development and had great insights at all stages of product creation. Her editorial background and product development skills made her a key member of the Klutz editorial team."--Kaitlyn Lockwood, Editorial Director of Children's Publishing, Readerlink
