Rachelle Meyer

Rachelle Meyer – Designer

An American Illustrator and Cartoonist living in Amsterdam, published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Guardian, among others.

Overview

I'm an American illustrator living in Amsterdam with a deep passion for books and visual storytelling. Born and bred in Texas, I moved to New York City not long after getting my degree in Studio Arts from UT Austin. Relocating to Amsterdam 15 years ago gave me the excuse I needed to pursue illustration full-time as a freelancer – and with rewarding results!

In the past year, I've had my comics and cartoons published by the best in the business (imho) - The New Yorker and The New York Times! I've also had the pleasure of working with The Austin Chronicle and Het Moet publishers.

I've worked for trade publishers (Harper Collins, De Vierwindstreken), mass-market publishers (Kid's Marketeers), educational publishers (World Book, Uitgeverij Delubas), and self-publishing authors. I've applied my talents to interpret the work of contemporary best-selling authors such as Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius), Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler’s Wife), and Nick Ortner (The Tapping Solution).

My illustrative art project, Faces on the Ferry, has captured the attention of The Guardian, Het Parool, TEDxAmsterdam, and FLOW Magazine. It's been an excellent way for me to continue to refine my signature style, which uses fluid lines, expressive color palettes, and bold graphic composition.

Finding inspiration through reading a manuscript continues to be one of my greatest pleasures, and I hope to connect with more publishers and authors through this platform.
