Need a highly trained, experienced professional to proofread your manuscript? Then you've come to the right place. Hi, I'm Rachel, a UK-based, friendly, meticulous, professional proofreader, with a sharp eye, a sense of humour and decades of experience at the highest level.

I've spent a quarter of a century as a journalist, editing and writing for national newspapers and magazines at major national publishers. I've edited copy on everything from The Independent to InStyle, from Empire to Psychologies, and from Woman's Weekly to Metro. Basically, if you've read it, I've edited it. I now use those tightly honed proofreading skills for book publishing - it requires exactly the same skill set - so you're in good hands.

For authors, I largely proofread commercial and literary fiction, women's fiction, Uplit, romance, comedy, historical fiction and children’s picture books, as well as non-fiction across a wide variety of subjects, including biography, memoir, history, mental health and wellbeing, although I'm open to any genre. I'm also open to working with authors from both the US and the UK.

I check for spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax and style, as well as any factual errors and inconsistencies. I will contact you to discuss any major changes, and edits can also be done using Microsoft Word Track Changes, so you can see my corrections. I can also sub-edit on-page in Adobe InDesign. After my edits, I aim to give you back a clean, error-free manuscript that's ready for submission or publication. Simple as that.
