Paul Keegan – Ghostwriter

Literary collaborator who lands six-figure deals with major publishers and produces highly praised books for business leaders and artists

Overview

My most recent book collaboration is "BALANCING ACTS: Unleashing the Power of Creativity in Your Life and Work" with Daniel Lamarre of Cirque du Soleil, published by the venerable Harper Collins, The Chicago Reader called it "a fascinating peek behind the curtain of the most iconic circus company."

I got into literary collaboration after spending many years writing long narrative features for top national magazines, including The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Esquire, Outside, Men’s Journal, Money, Details, and many others. After profiling Kip Tindell, co-founder of The Container Store, for Fortune, I approached him about helping to tell his remarkable story of turning a single little shop in Dallas into a beloved national brand.

We clicked and the result was "UNCONTAINABLE: How Passion, Commitment, and Conscious Capitalism Built a Business Where Everyone Thrives," published by the literary giant Hachette. Inc magazine called it "the best book about corporate culture in a decade" and Fortune hailed it as one of the "5 best business books" of the year. Herb Kelleher, co-founder of Southwest Airlines, described it as “one of the great entrepreneurial and humanistic adventures in business history."

Next came "INDULGE YOUR SENSES: Scaling Intimacy in a Digital World" with City Winery founder and CEO Michael Dorf, published by the boutique Post Hill Press. Former AOL CEO Steve Case praised it as "a gripping tale from an insider in the New York rock and jazz world during a period of massive technological change.”

My ghostwriting clients (work done anonymously) include the CEO of a Fortune 500 healthcare company, the president of one of America’s most venerable environmental organizations, a star NFL wide receiver, and a charismatic superintendent who turned around a struggling school district.

I also play trumpet with the Blue Soul Jazz Quartet and try to keep up with my energetic family - my wife, a Latin ballroom dance champion, and our fabulous teenage daughter.
