I'm a passionate and creative book designer with over 20 years experience.

Overview

I have been a book designer for the past 20 years. My experience varies from: trade non-fiction, biographies, cookbooks and large-format fully-illustrated titles. The types of work I specialise in are: book cover/jacket design, typesetting, plate design/layout, repro work on photography, vector illustration and preparing titles for print/press.

I have experience working at several publishing companies and have freelanced for some of the biggest names in publishing such as: Bloomsbury, Thames & Hudson, Quarto, HarperCollins, Penguin Random house, Hachette and many more.

As well as book design I have art-directed photoshoots for cookery titles, visited and worked with repro houses and attended press-passes at a number of printers.

Overseeing design projects, from conception to delivery. Projects include: book cover and layout design, infographics and illustrations. Responsible for the standard of design throughout the team by aiding and managing junior designers. Maintaining client and internal brand consistency throughout all projects.

Bloomsbury Publishing

Working on the Architecture, Film & Media and Literary Studies lists in the Academic and Professional Division. My role is to maintain and develop the integrity of Academic and Professional Division cover and jacket design, while supporting the Design Manager in guiding all design deliverable to completions to company wide deadlines within controlled budgets.

As the head of book design, I was responsible for all jacket/cover design and typesetting at Biteback Publishing. The publishing list covered a diverse range of subject areas and topics.
