Overview
I have 30 years of experience as an editor and writer. A major focus of my work has been medical and public health publications, but I have edited and written materials in a wide variety of other fields as well. I have worked on staff for a medical publishing companies and a prominent nonprofit health organization. In addition, I have worked as a freelancer or contractor for medical journals and book publishers as well as on publications for the general public. I have also published short stories and personal essays, and music is my passion.I have experience with the American Medical Association Manual of Style, The Chicago Manual of Style, The Associated Press Stylebook, and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. I see these editing guides as a starting point, and I always adapt my editing to my client's specific style. I seek to work with the author to make sure that the author's message is being clearly communicated by querying instances of ambiguity and inconsistency.
