Reading a good book with a child has always been one of my greatest pleasures, and sharing a beautifully illustrated picture book is even more gratifying. I have been fortunate to participate in creating many such books in my over 20 years of working at various imprints of what is now Penguin Random House. Since 2016 I have been working as a freelancer with major trade publishers, such as Simon & Schuster, Norton Young Readers, Holiday House, and Levine Querido, as well as with independent writer and illustrators. I am bringing this extensive experience to my work with you.
Once your text is edited and ready, whether you are illustrating your own story, have already chosen an illustrator, or are looking for one, I can help you at every stage in achieving your goal of creating a beautiful book. As your art director and designer I will work with you and with your illustrator step-by-step on merging text and art in the best possible way—from looking over rough initial sketches, through creating a dummy, to final art and design for both print-ready interior and cover, with an eye to all details, big and small.
I myself am not an illustrator but I’ve been working with award-winning and best-selling authors and illustrators who have many books to their name, and also with newbies, who are eager to learn everything from creating characters and surroundings, to the difference between 32-pages with external endpapers and 40-pages with selfends. And to that end, I'll be there to answer all of your questions and be at your side throughout the process, in the best publishing tradition.
