Overview
I'm a down-to-earth editor with a calm, methodical approach. I am a collaborator in the creative process, taking a wide view of your project to appraise the suitability and alignment of your structure and prose. The editorial process can be scary for authors, but I view it as a mutual process of getting to know the work in its finished form – something we will accomplish together.
I love to work on books exploring themes in art and art history – I wrote my master's thesis on Fahrelnissa Zeid, "painter princess" of modern Turkey – but I am open to working on any projects where I feel aligned with the author. Passion is always infectious and I love learning about your specific area of focus.
I've been writing and editing professionally for 10 years in various forms – as a freelance writer and editor, working on books for Black Dog Press; as editor of SAD Mag, Vancouver, Canada's only dedicated arts and culture magazine; and in my various academic roles at the University of British Columbia. Outside of my work, I'm a long distance runner, avid reader, and am slowly searching London for the best martini (I don't think it's Duke's!).
I am compassionate and friendly, and as your editor, we'll work together to help your work succeed on a technical and conceptual level, just as you've envisioned it.
