Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan – Editor

20+ yrs as a collaborative journalist/editor/poet, using candor and kindness to help writers win awards + publish their poetry + nonfiction.

Overview

Level up your manuscript with sensitive, incisive, market-savvy critique and hands-on editing. With 20+ years in journalism, strategic content development, and creative writing, I bring a unique perspective to your work that combines a sensitive eye and ear for language and your individual voice with deep knowledge of craft, publishing, and what works in the market. I've written and edited for global brands including Martha Stewart, Women's Health, Conde Nast, and others, as well as independent authors and publishers in the US, Canada, and Australia.

My last two indie authors sold their completed manuscripts to publishers, and one was the recipient of a new nonfiction award in Canada (we're so proud!)

Meg is a brilliant editor. She improved my manuscript drastically. She has a deep knowledge of grammar, syntax, and copyright and publishing standards. But even better than that, she connected with the style of my poems. She helped me make improvements outside the conventional rules of writing. Every suggestion she offered was spot-on. My collaboration with Meg was money well spent. I would be ...

Meg is a gifted editor, I'm thrilled that I found her. She met me with encouragement and candor, bringing her poet's facility with language to even logistical emails between us. Her thoughts and instincts about my work leveled up my piece beyond what I thought was possible. Her structural comments both tightened my work and deftly gave it a more personal feel. After receiving her written no...

It was a pleasure working with Meg. She was exceptionally patient and provided invaluable feedback and insights throughout the engagement. My manuscript is significantly stronger. I would highly recommend Meg if you need an editor to help shape and refine the overall development of your manuscript and is also willing to help assist in workshopping individual poems.
