MaxieJane Frazier – Editor

MaxieJane is a writer, educator, and editor with an MFA from Bennington Writing Seminars and Ph.D. from the University of Delaware.

Overview

Who loves words and storytelling possibly more than you? My greatest passion is helping a writer achieve the best version of their own authentic voice.

I'm a graduate-level creative writing instructor and freelance editor with the best clients! My superpower is maintaining an author's voice and vision while helping develop thematic threads, consistent plots, and readability all for the art of storytelling.

I have a dual-genre MFA in fiction/nonfiction from Bennington Writing Seminars and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Delaware. For more than a decade my sole focus has been writing, including work in freelance editing, teaching at the graduate level, book coaching. I instruct at writers conferences and master classes through Writing Away Refuge. My graduate-level university work focuses on creative writing.

As an approved editor for Black Rose Writing, I have extensive experience helping authors work from initial developmental edit through publication. I review manuscripts from the range of preparing to submit for literary agents through seeking out small publishers.

Helping authors is my highest passion. I'm fiercely kind. My comprehensive edits always stem from compassion offered with honest insight, positively providing constructive feedback with actionable advice. Your goal is mine: producing your very best work that is true to your voice and vision. In the end, my greatest hope is that you finish our partnership fired up and ready to go back to work and find your perfect publishing opportunity.

Testimonials:

"Before MaxieJane, I was a good writer—after her edits, I became an author of a bestselling series! MaxieJane's insight, precision, and gift for elevating story and style turn my manuscripts into something I couldn't have created alone."

--Cam Torrens, author of the Tyler Zahn mystery/suspense series, finalist 2025 Rocky Mountain Fiction Writer of the Year

"I have recently undergone an extensive developmental and line edit of a manuscript by MaxieJane, and came away extremely pleased with the result. She provided thoughtful revisions and ideas on the plot and the pacing, bearing in mind my message and feelings behind the story. She offered reassuring support and encouragement while helping enhance the manuscript, not simply telling me what I wanted to hear. I strongly recommend Maxie Jane for her editing services, and have already done so with several other aspiring authors."

—Scott Eveloff, Do Not Resuscitate

"I asked MaxieJane to copyedit my completed memoir manuscript because I trusted her. She invests her time and focus to ensure she delivers, on schedule, notes, feedback and edits that are thorough, thoughtful and encouraging. She is a class-act professional who is as personable as she is honest."
