Mateja Pivk – Designer

I have an academic background and more than 10 years of experience as a freelance illustrator. I work with authors and publishing houses in Slovenia and internationally, and have had the privilege of illustrating more than 20 published children's picture books.

Bringing an illustrated book to life is a collaborative process, and I value clear communication and mutual trust throughout each project. I ask questions, listen carefully, and work closely with authors to find the visual style and atmosphere that best support their story. I particularly enjoy illustrating picture books, animal characters, educational titles, and family-centered stories.

I follow a step-by-step process that is tailored to the needs of each client. From early concepts and character development to final illustrations, I guide authors through each stage of the project. For first-time authors, I am also happy to offer practical support and help them navigate the illustration side of the publishing process.
