Martin Greig

Martin Greig – Editor

Editor with ten years experience of working on award-winning sports books such as Andrea Pirlo's autobiography, Pep Confidential & more

Overview

My speciality is in editorial assessment and developmental editing, particularly within the Sport and Outdoors genre. I have a proven track record in these areas through my company, BackPage Press, which was founded in 2009. To date, we have sold 250,000 books across the world - including Andrea Pirlo's autobiography I Think Therefore I Play, the ground-breaking Pep Confidential by Marti Perarnau, and Graham Hunter's multi-award-winning Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World. On each of these projects, I have been the main editor and worked collaboratively with the authors to shape the content.

Practically, my strengths lie in assessing the strength and marketability of an author's project. Put simply, I know what ideas sell, and how those ideas can be best presented to reach the intended audience. Within my specialist genre of Sport & Outdoors, I have edited books on football/soccer, cycling, tennis, boxing, rugby, American Football, baseball and mountaineering.

Martin's editing has been superb. It was my first book, so I had a lot of questions regarding many aspects and Martin answered them all. Skilled editor, polished my book from the very beginning till the end, even with some extras. Thank you Martin, collaborating with you has been an excellent journey!

I worked with Neil development editing my diary of my trip to Everest Base Camp. We had a long chat on the phone (due to Covid lockdown) and Neil managed to get to know my personality and what I wanted from my book. I received new chapters daily which was the highlight of my day and the project was completed 4 weeks early. A thoroughly professional job and I would highly recommend using Mar...

Throughout the entire project I was very pleased and impressed with Martins work. My book was a memoir, and even though the book is completely based on a true story, he made that true story come to life. My memoir was about my childhood friends and I growing up playing wiffleball, sometimes too intensely, and all of the drama in between. His work included the developmental and editorial asses...
