Marie Timell

Marie Timell – Editor

A former Penguin Random House senior editor, I develop/doctor, line and copy edit nonfiction. Have an MBA and have worked in finance.

Overview

I have edited topics ranging from personal finance to a wine guide for mothers as well as health, history, and many books in the self-help genre. I excel in editing religion, spirituality, and new age topics, and a spirituality book I developed won an IPPY Award. Many of the books I have edited have had the legs to stay in print for some time. Two authors I assisted with their debut books went on to successful publishing careers. Several titles I edited after they were self-published subsequently received contracts from major publishers.

Easygoing and highly collaborative, I help authors get their books to the next level. As a development editor, I work with a writer on a structure to achieve an accessible flow of thought. My process is to edit in Word’s track changes, offering comments and examples and being available for discussion or questions.

Marie was great to work with! Especially as a first-time author, I greatly appreciated her feedback and thorough editing of my manuscript. I would definitely work with her again.
