Maithy Vu

Maithy Vu – Editor

Editor of children's literature. I was the associate editor of the brand behind the best-selling Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series.

Overview

I learned the art of providing editorial feedback while earning my MLA in Creative Writing & Literature with Harvard Extension School. There, I reviewed my peers’ work on a weekly basis. During this time, I joined the editorial team at Rebel Girls—the brand behind the best-selling Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series—where I helped shape the brand’s editorial strategy and created inspiring, educational books.

I am a co-editor and contributor of the children’s volume Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers, which was selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things. I also authored the novella Wounded Wisteria and the novel Squid Season, both written in a combination of prose and rhyming verse.

With over 5 years of editorial experience, I am thrilled to offer my editing services for children's literature. My feedback is kind, yet honest. I will let you know exactly what it is you need to make your project the best it could possibly be. You can decide whether you'll receive an editorial assessment, a developmental edit of your manuscript, a thorough copyedit, or all of the above.

My goal is to make your work just as captivating as it is polished!

"I had the pleasure of working with Maithy for nearly three years on the editorial team at Rebel Girls. Her inside and out knowledge of the brand, creative vision for stories and visuals, and eye for detail make her an exceptional editor." --Grace House, project editor of Union Square & Co.

"Maithy is both a great manager and writer, which are hard skills to balance. Her edits were full of detailed, actionable feedback, as well as encouragement, that gave me exactly the direction I needed to write better stories." --Shelbi Polk, freelance writer

Maithy was professional. She helped me with copyediting. Additionally, she injected a bit of whimsy and humor into my story that I hadn't thought of. A delight to work with as well.

Maithy takes my dull rocks and turns them into gems. It really humbles me to see the level of detail and attention she puts on each word in my stories. I may be missing a plot or have a weak one and she figures out what I'm trying to say and says it in a manner where my target audience and parents will like and understand. If you want a first-rate editor, then hire the best one on Reedsy (Ma...
