Maddy Curry – Editor

I have over ten years of copy editing and proofreading experience as both an in-house and freelance editor. I started as an Assistant Publisher at an independent press where I was responsible for proofreading and copy editing several books a season (poetry, fiction, and non-fiction), and managing production schedules. I was also editor at a small press that I co-founded, where we specialized in providing publishing opportunities for emerging voices in the local publishing scene. In this role, I focused on developmental editing and editorial assessment as well as copy editing and proofreading. Since then, I have actively been providing freelance editorial services as a copy editor and proofreader, primarily for works of fiction, but also for other genres. I've also held a range of communications roles which have allowed me to further hone my editing expertise on a variety of materials and topics. This includes editing government reports, marketing materials, and research papers.

My editing style is one of collaboration: I'm interested in working with you to not only clarify your message, but to cheer you on, too! I know how much courage it takes to put your writing out into the world, and I'm here to support you as you move through your journey.

My favourite genre to edit is fiction, my favourite source of caffeine is a cappuccino, and I am a fan of the Oxford comma. I do my best work when I work alongside my cat, who makes an excellent editorial assistant.
