Overview
With a decade of in-house experience at Hardie Grant Children's Publishing, I'm excited to offer you my skills as a freelance editor. I focus on middle-grade fiction (for readers aged 9-12) and young adult fiction (for readers aged 13+), and I've worked on everything from contemporary YA fiction to MG fantasy-adventure. Many of the novels I've edited have won awards. Yours could be next!
My aim, always, is to help writers tell their story in the best way possible. I edit with both the writer and their readers in mind, which involves constructive feedback on the entire manuscript as well as close, careful copyediting to ensure every sentence shines.
As a developmental editor, I provide written feedback on various 'big picture' aspects of a novel such as pace, plot and character development, and offer suggestions for how to make your story even more gripping and dramatic. If you're stuck for ideas or have written yourself into a corner, I'm happy to discuss ways to move forward; I'm keen to help you find out what works for both you and your story.
As a copyeditor, I tend to leave lots of comments in the margins, from 'This isn't quite in your character's voice, can you please rephrase?' to 'You've created such a tense atmosphere here, well done!' This approach empowers you to improve your manuscript while also helping you hone your craft as a writer.
'Luna is a bona fide story genius who always knows exactly what the narrative needs to lift it to the next level. My books are undoubtedly much better for her input, and I am a better writer for having worked with her. I recommend her unreservedly.' – Sarah Armstrong, award-winning author of 'Run'.
If you want to take your novel to the next level, I'd love to work with you!
