Lisa Eary – Editor

Twenty-five years of freelance editing experience serving clients including Baker Academic, Lexham/Faithlife, Eerdmans, and Zondervan.

Overview

Professors are my favorite kind of people. I delight in reading their books and helping them communicate clearly with other professors, college and seminary students, and interested lay readers. It took me two years to write my seminary thesis, which was published by Lexham/Faithlife. So I get how hard it is to write a book and how scary it is to be edited.

But I am not afraid to raise the quality bar. To wave red flags and ask tough questions about content. To unpack convoluted sentences. To cut extra words. To clarify.

Using concise and ordinary language to explain complex ideas is much harder than “academic” writing. But it is worth the effort because the goal of any book should be to help readers. To illuminate and inspire. To communicate about the Master like the Master.

I also speak international English. I learned it teaching writing (as a missionary) in Uzbekistan for two years. After seminary, I copy edited most of the OT books in the South Asia Bible Commentary, including learning culture and contextualizing in India. Since then, I have served authors from the UK, Africa, India, China, and Australia. Working with brothers and sisters around the world is both a privilege and a joy.

I am among you as one who serves. Perhaps I can help.
