Overview
Hi, I'm Lindsey, an editor and publishing consultant living in New York City. I enjoy working with authors at all stages of their writing journey, from the first spark of an idea through book proposals, query letters, submission to agents, editing and refining manuscripts, to publication and beyond. In recent years, I have become a much sought-after collaborator for narrative and prescriptive nonfiction, memoir, and “big idea” books, especially within the sphere of health and wellness, science, medicine, mental health, and social justice.
I also edit children's books from picture books to YA. I have had several of my own children's books published.
My book proposals have been taken on by top literary agents and the books I've worked on have been published by Scribner, Random House, Hachette, HarperColllins, Little Brown, and other major publishers. I have also guided authors on their self-publishing journey, offering hands-on support at every step.
I see myself as an editor and advocate for "my" authors throughout the publishing process and like to work as a coach, improving craft and offering workable solutions along the way. I am detail-oriented and deadline-driven, hard-working, and empathetic.
Here are some acknowledgments from clients:
Prentis Hemphill, What It Takes To Heal, Random House
"Thank you to Lindsey, my editor and friend. You could see it when others couldn’t. Thank you for listening and treating every word with love. And thank you for your insistence that this could be done. It’s healed something in me to have had you by my side."
Wes Ely, Every Deep Drawn Breath, Scribner
"To Lindsey, my incessant collaborator and partner in writing this book, words can’t adequately convey my appreciation. From our love of Dostoyevsky, we went forward. I still laugh at our joke about feeling at times as if we were trying to stuff a huge sleeping bag of information into a pouch that was too small. You always sought the theme of maintaining our gaze on the person in the patient, and it served as our North Star."
Elena Lister and Michael Schwartzman, Giving Hope, Penguin Random House
"Lindsey was an incredibly fortunate find for us as clinicians and authors. As the writing unfolded, we experienced her ready grasp of our message, her outstanding work ethic, her consistent reliability, and her gifted use of language. It could not have been easy working with two people—close colleagues and friends, but with their own backgrounds and styles—to make one manuscript so respectful of both of us. Somehow, she did that and more, and we are very grateful for the essential synergy she provided."
James Jackson, Clearing the Fog, Little Brown
"I’m particularly grateful for Lindsey, my erstwhile editor and book coach. She is a gifted muse, a brilliant wordsmith, and far more than that, a good and faithful friend. She’s generous, sincere, and authentic, and I’m particularly happy because I know the connection we’ve built will remain for decades to come."
