Niki Leonidou – Designer

I have been working as an illustrator since 2001, after graduating from the Kent Institute of Art & Design. I am an award winner illustrator, with more than 230 books with my work published worldwide. I am also a published author in Greece. My picture book, written in English and illustrated by me, was nominated for the best picture book concept Keycolours award, in Belgium, 2014.

I have illustrated a lot of picture books for Greek publishers such as Minoas, Metaixmio, Savalas, Saitis, Papadopoulos and more. I have also illustrated a lot of educational books for Greek and USA publishers such as Mondo publishing, Benchmark education, Collaborative classroom and more. I have also worked illustrating children's books with other publishers like Yeowon media in Korea, Mehta publishers in India and Ransom publishers in UK. The picture book I illustrated for Clavis Publishing, "The Purple Pail", is published in Belgium, USA and Indonesia.

When it comes to working with an author, I always welcome any kind of reference they wish to give me and always talk a lot about the project before and during the illustration. My aim is that they are happy with the result as this is a collaborative work, not something I do on my own. I am also happy to help and give new insight and ideas if they are not very sure about what they want. Also very happy to do the design and layout in case this is needed and produce a ready for print pdf.
