Overview

Hello! I am a skilled, confident, detail-oriented, optimistic editor with nearly a decade of experience publishing a curated list of award-winning food & lifestyle titles, including health & fitness, cooking, cocktails, nutrition, self-sufficiency, self-help, travel, pets, crafts, humor, and more—I like to ensure a variety of projects each season.

I value clear communication, so you can expect that from me throughout our time working together. Authors also tend to appreciate my thorough and honest notes. The bulk of my professional publishing experience is in practical nonfiction, though new opportunities are always intriguing, so please feel free to reach out if you think we might be a good fit.

AUTHOR TESTIMONIALS

"Leah is organized, flexible, professional, and very responsive. Her editing contributed to the clarity of the text, and her suggestions were well-informed. Working with Leah as an editor was an enjoyable experience!"
—Pilar Hernandez, Gourmand Award-Winning Author

"I have worked with Leah for many years on several projects; she is always a pleasure to work with. Her editing skills are spot-on and always helpful. Equally important, she is professional, kind, and understanding of deadlines."
—Julie Loria, author of "Silent Cities" and "The Game of Eating Smart"

"Leah was instrumental in helping me finesse my published work. She is a talented editor and a joy to work with. Her in-depth understanding of the publishing world was a key to my success. Under her guidance my first book received nationwide in-store pickups at notable retailers across the country including Target stores and Barnes & Noble. I will always be tremendously grateful to Leah for the help she provided me. Anyone who's lucky enough to work with her in the future is sure to benefit from her expertise, knowledge, and services."
—Dante Fabiero, creator and author of "Slothilda: Living The Sloth Life"

“It is with much enthusiasm that I recommend Leah as an editor. As the author of three cookbooks, I know how vital the role is to any book. If you give a manuscript to 10 different editors, you'll get ten different books—I am so glad Leah acquired mine! Food and lifestyle are where her heart is, and it shows in every book she has worked on. She makes each author feel special, devoting the time it needs to create a book from scratch. Leah has a special relationship with words and a complete domain of the English language. Her skills and attention to detail always proved a learning experience for me, from grammar and spelling to punctuation and word choices. Leah guided me in organizing the recipes, including non-recipe chapters, and most importantly, telling the story behind each recipe by asking questions and providing personal feedback on every single recipe. I consider myself a very lucky author to have worked with Leah. Just as her work impacted my book, I have no doubt she will continue to make an impact in this world, one author and one book at a time, in many constructive ways—as a professional, a friend, and an editor.”

Five stars for each of Professionalism, Quality, Value, and Communications and Punctuality. This was my first experience working with a professional editor, and Leah was wonderful. Not only did she make my manuscript "shine", she polished a rookie writer's myriad mistakes in formatting and style. I especially appreciated Leah's understanding that I needed "some education", especially in format...

Leah was an excellent collaborator, both in her professionalism and communication but also in her enthusiasm for my subject and the writing project as a whole. I feel extremely confident with her edits and suggestions, but in the end, finding someone that believes in what you have to offer is worth more than the value of the commission.

Thank you so much, Jeanette! I can't wait to see where your project goes :)
