Overview
Just about all of the titles I have penned for others have been bought by publishers in auctions or preempts. One book, "Saving Baby," started out as a self-published work. After Kirkus Reviews called it "One of the best books of the year," it went to auction in a three-way bidding war won by St. Martin's Press and then reached #85 on Barnes & Noble. Another title, "Strong Women and Men Beat Arthritis," reached number 3 on Amazon in addition to making it to the New York Times bestseller list. Yet another New York Times bestseller I wrote for someone, "Messenger: The Legacy of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and Heartsongs," was lauded by Oprah on her television show.
When I work with you on your book, we take deep dives into the theme(s) and storyline you want covered. There's lots and lots of conversation, with me listening and asking questions as we go. You review each chapter as I write it, and from there we take an iterative exploration until we get it where it needs to be. I can help you with the proposal, too, so that you will gain the attention of an agent.
I am well versed in a variety of genres: memoir, health, pet care....
My background also includes writing for various publications. This ranges from doing a widely syndicated column for the Washington Post to articles for the Los Angeles Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Reader's Digest, the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, and many other magazines and newspapers.
I look forward to learning about you.
