Overview
I am a certified copyeditor and proofreader specializing in narrative nonfiction and beautifully designed books related to cooking, crafting, and lifestyle topics, with more than seven years of consistent freelance and contract experience.
I have a knack for reviewing both the creative and technical aspects of a written piece to ensure that all parts hang together correctly and consistently, whether in a manuscript or within an established layout. I'm well-versed in the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), and I use Recipes Into Type and The New Food Lover's Companion as valuable resources for recipe and cookbook editing. I take satisfaction in working with style guides (and creating them!) and in poring over the essential minutiae that a casual reader might miss.
Genres I love and know well:
• Celebrity memoirs and biographies
• Cookbooks—any and all, really. Reading a recipe is as interesting, and often as inspiring, to me as anything else meant to enlighten.
• Crafting books. I knit and crochet, sometimes sew and embroider, and am always up for learning new ways to make something with my hands.
• How-to books. Teach me how to do something, step by step.
• Narrative nonfiction. I genuinely enjoy dropping deep into these books and digging into all the details.
I look forward to chatting about how I can help with your next project.
