Laura Baker

Laura Baker – Ghostwriter

Specialist in writing and editing children's books, including picture books, board books, non-fiction, activity and more for major clients.

Overview

Coming from a publishing background, I now specialise in writing and ghostwriting books for children. I worked in-house at a children's publisher for seven years before going freelance nearly eight years ago, so I have a wide range of experience and expertise that I'd love to offer you.

I've worked with clients such as Penguin Random House, Little Tiger, OUP, Scholastic, Quarto, Ladybird, Lonely Planet Kids and more. My writing portfolio includes picture books read on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, early readers for OUP and Ladybird and board books for Peppa Pig. I have co-written picture books with top celebrities and ghostwritten for public figures and visual artists.

I am often recognised for my personable approach, attention to detail, strong work standard and real passion for the work I do. I take great care in every job and strive to find the voice and heart of your text. I'm happy to guide you or get more involved in your process, creating a final product you are proud of.

I'd love to speak to you about how we can work together and discover your story.

"Laura was great to work with. She is timely and responsive, but the best thing about her is that is she actually gets the assignment, despite my thinking out loud. My project couldn't have worked without her genius touch. Just what I truly needed. Thank you so much, Laura, for bringing your creativity as well as warmth to this ghostwriting project." - Neha Dhanik, ghostwriting client
