Hi, I'm Laura, an artist with a passion for stories and pictures told in a cinematic way.

As illustrator, I have plenty of experience working with self-publishing authors and first-time writers. When working together, I will guide and support you step by step into this beautiful process.

Speaking about my creative approach, when working on a picture book, my focus goes to the emotional arc of the story and its message. The illustrations should not be descriptive and predictable, but go beyond and show the emotional core of the story, amplifying what already written in the text.

Technique wise I work both analogue and digitally, sometimes also with a combination of both.

GUIDELINES

-In your offer please indicate a short summary of the project/story, what you'd like to see on the cover in terms of setting and characters and few visual references.

-In case you are contacting me for a full book, please includes the amount of illustrations needed, if double or single spreads, the amount of characters (including secondary ones) and a couple of visual references for the style/mood.

-I'm also curious to hear why you think I'm a match for your project and what you like from my portfolio.

WORKFLOW

1) Briefing call

I like to meet my clients in a video call to get to know each other better and hear their vision about the project.

2) Sketches

Following your brief, I will prepare a sketch of your cover/book illustrations, which will be submitted for client's review.

3) Color Keys

I will paint a rough color key to give you a good impression of the light, color, mood and general look of the final illustration. This allows me to share my vision but also to collect your feedbacks in an efficient way.

4) Final Illustration / Final Cover

I paint the final illustrations/cover following the artistic direction agreed in the point above.

Note: revisions are always included in each stage. The number of revisions depends by the final quote of the project.

FEE & CHARGES

COVER ILLUSTRATION AND DESIGN: starting price is 1350 EUR (excl. Reedsy author fee). The final price depends by the amount of details, size (front only, or front+back cover), the style and the complexity of the illustration.

FULL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS: I do not accept projects with budget below 10.000 EUR (excl. Reedsy author fee).
