Kirsiah Depp

Kirsiah Depp – Editor

Attentive editor with experience from several NYC publishers focusing on thriller, women's fiction, romance, YA, and middle grade fiction.

Overview

My editorial background includes working on children's books at Penguin Random House and adult books at Hachette Book Group. I currently work with some of the biggest authors such as James Patterson and David Baldacci while building my own list of commercial fiction. I'm always looking for that next book that I just can't put down and has characters that I'm invested in.

On the children's side, I love a world that just envelops me, making me forget reality for just a little bit; characters that I cheer on and relationships that connect from start to finish. So I'm always looking for how to flesh that out even deeper and really engage the reader.

And my editing is always done with the YOU, the author, in mind. What is your vision? What story are you trying to tell? What other ways can you get there without changing the core of your creation? This is your book and I just want to help you make it the best it can be.

Now what do I do when I'm not editing? Glad you asked! I live with my husband and our Chow Chow/Golden Retriever dog. We enjoy being nerdy by playing video games together and I love trying out new arts and crafts. I particularly love crochet and cross stitch, but am always eager to try something new.

Great comments by Kirsiah about the opening of a novel in progress. She really nails down what I need to work on and it’s all good. I appreciate her compliments and we seem to be on the same page as to my strengths and weaknesses. Will use her again when the spirit moves me. Thanks!

Kirsiah provided exactly what I needed to improve my manuscript. Her insights, honesty and specificity when identifying inconsistencies has been so helpful. She was able to point out parts that would most likely be confusing for the general audience I want to include.
