Overview
Hi, I’m Kelly-Anne, a freelance designer based in Reading, UK. I have extensive experience in publishing creating illustrated, non-fiction books and magazines for all age groups and genres. I have led marketing design to support both print and digital campaigns, liaising with external suppliers, production, and printers. Well-organised, articulate, self-motivated and calm under pressure, I am able to work to tight deadlines and budgets, whilst maintaining a very high standard and attention to detail.
Key skills
• Understanding of Brand strength, creating consistent Brand identity throughout multiple design disciplines.
• Creation of trade publishing for national and international markets, including: research and development of new products; cover and internal page concepts for presentations and book fairs; creation of style guides and templates.
• Design of marketing and digital materials to increase book sales including; POS, OOH adverts, social media adverts, learning and teaching packages.
• Ensuring high quality and consistency of house style to produce successful publications.
Key achievements
• As the design lead on the nationwide marketing campaign for Winnie-The-Pooh's: Once There was a Bear (Oct 2021) I supported the achievement of 27,000 hardback sales. I implemented a cohesive look across all social and print materials, including OOH advertising on the London Underground, window displays for independent shop fronts and a full-sized display case within the Natural History Museum shop.
• With a three-week turnaround from initial briefing to sale, I successfully implemented a marketing design package for Matt Lucas's Thank you, Baked Potato picture book (May 2020) released during Covid to raise funds for #FeedNHS.
• Built a reputation as understanding the requirements of Sanrio Licencing, whilst working on many of the Mr. Men Little Miss titles (MMLM), including; marketing for the 50th anniversary of MMLM; Discover You, a new series about feelings and emotions; as well as seasonal drop ins to support Easter, Mother's Day, Halloween etc.
• Managed the creative side of Knit & Stitch Creative magazine, a women's craft magazine from initial concept through to print and marketing. The initial run of 80 issues was extended to 118 issues and sold internationally.
Q: So why should you choose me to design your book?
A: I will take the time to understand what you want, where you want the product placed and your goals for this book. I will then produce ideas for the look and feel of the title and work closely with you through to the finished masterpiece – a literary art with your name on. From the outset, I will guide you through the requirements needed for images, illustrations, copyrights etc, saving you time and money by avoiding having to revisit them. I can also help you with the marketing materials to get your book out into the real world via social media, printed leaflets, posters, bookmarks, stickers, etc.
I am passionate about books and everything they offer so let’s work together and bring your idea to life with a well-designed book that you can be proud of!
