I have lots of experience with editing non-fiction, especially in the music and education spaces, but I'd love to focus on editing LGBTQA+ fiction, thrillers, literary fiction, and contemporary fiction. If you need someone who will prod at your plotholes, round out your characters (especially BIPOC/LGBTQA+ ones!), and scrub every typo and grammatical error out of your manuscript, I'm the editor for you!

Penguin Random House
• Closely reads and reviews typeset text and marks any errors electronically using Adobe Acrobat’s commenting tools
• Follows book style sheet, The Chicago Manual of Style rules, specific imprint styles for marking changes, and Merriam Webster’s Collegiate dictionary for spelling and capitalization
• Checks running heads, design, and chapter titles and numbers against contents and looks for inconsistencies
• Checks for bad breaks and stacks
• Maintains author’s voice and style by querying instead of changing anything that is not an outright error
• When cold reading a book with end- or footnotes, checks all note numbers, trailing phrases, and sources
Scholastic
At Scholastic, I not only proofread and copy edited 60% of the titles in the Teaching Solutions department, but I also provided editorial feedback on author bios and marketing copy. During the life cycle of each book, I created contracts for independent vendors, created and maintained product metadata, and assisted the managing editor in making sure every project was operating on deadline. Finally, I'd always be the last eyes on the books to check that the printer proofs were correct.

• Used Brant Publications’s CMS to build posts and slideshows for the website
• Transcribed interviews to facilitate editors’ writing process
• Researched and pitched new story ideas to ensure content diversity
• Conducted interviews with artists like Mike Faist from Dear Evan Hansen and up-and-coming rappers De’Wayne Jackson and Kweku Collins to ensure comprehensive coverage of music and theatre
The Pace Press
• Performed final edits and made all final editorial decisions on all content to assure the quality of writing and reporting
• Lead weekly staff meetings to review web engagement analytics and content quality to inform staff members of well-performing articles and to boost team morale
• Liaised between writers, editors, advisors, and press contacts outside the organization to build bridges between the paper and the community it served
Out Magazine
• Researched, pitched, and wrote an average of 3 stories daily to ensure comprehensive coverage of LGBTQ community news, politics, entertainment, and travel on Out’s digital platform
• Conducted interviews with artists like Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn and web series writer, producer, and actor Benjamin Baur to bring unique new perspectives to the content
• Built stories on WordPress CMS to ensure proper layout of content on the digital platform
