Overview
In my 25+ years of experience as a copy editor, I've worked full-time for academic presses and freelanced for several trade publishers. This depth and breadth of experience translates into versatility, flexibility, and most importantly, the editorial thoughtfulness and eagle eye that are vital in a good copy editor and proofreader. You can trust me to help make your manuscript the best it can be.

Work experience
Self-employed
I'm a freelance copy editor and proofreader working on books for children and adults. Recent clients include Penguin Random House, Quirk Books, University of Pennsylvania Press, and Chooseco (publisher of Choose Your Own Adventure). See the bottom of my profile for a partial list of titles I've worked on.
American Association for Cancer Research
Among other duties, I copyedited research articles and news items for Cancer Discovery, a well-regarded research journal.
Routledge, an imprint of Taylor & Francis Group
I managed a list of 40 academic journals covering a range of topics in the behavioral sciences (psychology, counseling and psychotherapy, human sexuality, social work). I didn't do any copyediting during this time, but I learned a lot about my designated subjects, which has been helpful in subsequent copyediting work.
The Haworth Press/Harrington Park Press (imprint)
I worked for more than 12 years as a production editor for a small academic and trade press, where I gained vast experience copyediting trade books (LGBTQ* romance, mystery, literary fiction, memoir, essays) and academic journal articles (LGBTQ* studies, gender studies, social sciences, humanities, and library and information sciences).
