Overview
I’m a seasoned children’s book editor with extensive experience shaping standout picture books and middle-grade novels, from detailed line edits to more over-arching, broad story development. I offer expert editing; sharp instincts; and warm, clear communication every step of the way. I love crafting thoughtful editorial letters and in-manuscript markup, but I also thrive in follow-up Zoom sessions or calls where we can workshop live, collaborate closely, and dig into what’s working well and what needs more attention.
I’ve had the joy of editing award-winning fiction and nonfiction authors as well as helping new voices soar with their debut titles. I've been an MFA writing instructor and continue to teach many writing workshops through SCBWI, Inked Voices, Journey to Kidlit and more. I'm also a published author myself (with three additional picture books to come from Knopf, Hachette, and Islandport Press), so I'm fully aware of how vulnerable and meaningful it is to share and develop one's own writing.
I pride myself on constantly thinking deliberately about picture book format and structure as well as age-appropriate themes and pacing in middle-grade novels (including novels in verse). I understand that each author and project is different. I respect the call to preserve a writer's voice and vision while discussing suggestions that will amplify and uncover what might be scratching underneath the surface. Additionally, I recognize the importance of writing and revising with the eventual illustration program in mind, too.
Whether you're a seasoned writer or at the onset of your writing journey, let’s bring your story to life with clarity, heart, and purpose!
